This information relates to the previous version of the Blackboard mobile app.

Blackboard Mobile Learn v4.1 is available in the App Store & Google Play.

The free* Blackboard Mobile Learn app is now available for iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) and Android smartphones/tablets (e.g. Sony Xperia, Samsung Galaxy, HTC One etc).

This app is not currently available for Windows 7 / Windows 8 phones such as HTC 8x, Samsung Ativ or Nokia Lumia or Amazon Kindle Fire devices (currently not available in the Amazon App Store). On these devices you should still be able to access Blackboard via the device web browser and Blackboard are looking to expand the range of devices that the app is available for so these devices may be supported in the future.

You can find out more information about Blackboard Mobile Learn at and please note that not all features may be available on all devices/platforms. Also some content in Blackboard may not be able to be viewed on all devices due to restrictions / licensing / software limitations etc. This can include Flash content as well as Articulate interactions, some tests etc.

As an Instructor you can add content items and announcements from within the app and you will receive announcement notifications to the app unless you opt out via the My Places / Notifications section.

NEW - You can now use the Citrix Receiver app on mobile devices to access Blackboard / network drives (H:\ etc) / Microsoft Office and you can find more information here.

*Please note that data charges may apply if you use Blackboard Mobile Learn on your mobile phone network but you can also use it through wi-fi networks (including the College Student/Staff WiFi networks). You can get more information about the College wi-fi network on StudentNet. The Blackboard Mobile Learn app is a free app from the various App Stores.

How to use Blackboard Mobile Learn:

  1. Download & install the app from the App Store
  2. Open the Blackboard Mobile Learn app
  3. Type 'North East Scotland College'' in the search box and select the College from the list
  4. Log in using your normal username (eight-digit student number e.g. 12345678 or staff alias) & password
  5. Select the course or organisation from the list. You can also favourite a course by pressing the star button which will show the course on the Favourites tab.

Android FAQ:
The Blackboard Mobile Learn app is not currently available on Amazon Kindle Fire tablets or through the Amazon App Store.

Windows Phone FAQ:
Blackboard Mobile Learn is not currently available for Windows Phone but you can still access the non-mobile version through the device's Internet application by visiting - the functionality may be limited due to the screen size though.
